Potentially Free Chef Michael's Dog Food
Common Sense with Money has the following scenario where you could get free dog food. However, I'm a tad skeptical about this deal. Here is why.
1. Target prices vary by region and store. For instance, what one store might have on a temporary price cut, the same store in town may not. Temporary price cuts are triggered by store sales on items and distribution center stock. Hence why it varies by store and where you live.
2. Many times Target will not adjust coupons to make an item free. Technically, their policy is to allow a store and man. coupon. However, really it is up to each store once again on how they enforce this policy. Sometimes it will go through without problem and sometimes it will not.
3. I don't know how often this Purina coupon resets. However, if you've already printed it, you may not be able to reprint.
Your better bet would be to do the second scenario where you get a $5.00 gift card. There is less chance that the coupons will not go through as your total would be above just tax and less reason for them to reject your coupon. Also, because this is in the store ad, the price will not vary and you know what you will be paying before you go in the store.

J.C. Penny coupon
Save 15% instore or online with this coupon. Go through ebates and get cash back on your online purchase. It is valid July 29th-August 1st which pairs nicely with tax free weekend here in Georgia.
Now while J.C. Penny doesn't carry pet products(at least that I can find). If you need to replace anything your pet may have used as a chew toy(like your shoes) this could actually work out quite well for you. Or perhaps you are thinking about getting new pillows and turning your old pillows into a pet bed. Maybe, you've been eyeing new towels and are going to donate your old ones to the humane society.
There are various ways you can make this purchase pet related without actually buying a pet product.
I know, my logic for spending can be dangerous at times. Trust me, my wallet knows this allll too well.

Coupons
Yesterday's paper had a coupon for a free can of mighty dog. I did not receive it in my paper but my sister in the upper Midwest did. If your area did not carry the coupon you can always check an online trading group, coupon service or Ebay.
Right now most stores are focused on back to school with low cost school supplies and clothing. I'm currently stocking up on school supplies like highlighters, pens and office paper to donate to my local humane society. Many blogs are doing posts on creative ways to use school supplies like Freebies for Mom and others. There are some neat suggestions for those of us without school age children. Another way to take advantage of the folders and glue sticks would be to make an emergency file for your pet. Use a standard folder or file folder to hold all their vet visits, medication information, along with any allergies. One place with all the information you need on hand to plan for upcoming visits(for instance your pet will need their bordetella vaccine every 6 months.) and budget accordingly. Also, you could keep another folder with receipts in case a great pet food rebate comes up!

Publix Run
I just returned triumphant from Publix. I successfully got 10 bags of Dentastix for my pup and my sister's pooches. Plus, I gave a bag to my co-worker to try out.
Good news, the store I went to had plenty in-stock. They had a bin along with plenty on the shelf. The sale price was 3.59 rather than 3.79 as first reported. Now for the bad news, some of the packaging sizes are changing. I noticed on the new bags of minis they are reducing the package from 25 sticks to 24. The largest size still had 7. I didn't notice on the small if they decreased the package size or not. While this isn't a huge decrease by package shrink terms, it still is worth noting. If your store still has the old packaging, you would get 1 more than in the new packages.
Here is how I did it.
I bought 10 packages
B1/G1 2 3.59*5=17.95
-2.50(6)=15.00
-1.00(4)=4.00
I made 1.05 for buying dentastix.
Of course, that is not the only item I bought while there, but it's still pretty neat to get "paid" to buy dog treats.

Weekly Coupons
This week there was 5 inserts in the Sunday paper. Sadly the P&G did not have any Iams coupons. The only dog coupons I got where the Pedigree ones. There was also a coupon for the 3m Fur Fighter which is similar to the Pledge Pet Hair Remover. There were also some for carpet cleaners like woolite. They make a neat little cleaning tool call the Pod or something along those lines. Before I got my Bissel Iused the pod to clean up after my pup. I really enjoyed the product.
The ads are rather tame with pet deals from what I saw. With Easter quickly approaching most ads are focused on clothing, candy and food. So I think it will be a bit before we see a strong pet ad.
Walgreen's has the small dog dentastix on clearance for 3.19. Use the 2.50 off coupon and you could get bag for .69 cents. Even if you don't have a small breed these are nice treats for your dog to give a little fresh breath perk.
CVS has dog toys on clearance along with dish towels, cloths, tupperware and other asst. items. At my store they were 75% off. They also have coffee mugs with dogs on them! I got my sister two beagle mugs for .49 each!

Coupon Match Ups
Kmart is running double coupons this week, check your local ad to see if your store is participating.
My sister was able to get free cat food from her Kmart. The Goodlife 3lb bag is on sale for 3.99. Use the 2.00 off any goodlife cat/dog food. The store will double the coupon to 1.99 making it FREE. If you don't have the coupon you can get a printable coupon here. Some Kmarts will accept I.P coupons, some will not. However, there have been several Goodlife coupons that are still good from the last few months. Even if you don't have a cat, this could be an excellent donation to a local shelter. Please check with your local shelter first, some do not accept certain brands of food.
I was able to get a 4lb bag of Goodlife Dog food for .99 yesterday!

My sister was able to get free cat food from her Kmart. The Goodlife 3lb bag is on sale for 3.99. Use the 2.00 off any goodlife cat/dog food. The store will double the coupon to 1.99 making it FREE. If you don't have the coupon you can get a printable coupon here. Some Kmarts will accept I.P coupons, some will not. However, there have been several Goodlife coupons that are still good from the last few months. Even if you don't have a cat, this could be an excellent donation to a local shelter. Please check with your local shelter first, some do not accept certain brands of food.

K-mart has Alpo Can food 20 for $12.00 making them .60 a can. Use the printable buy one get one can free here. You can get two cans for 60 cents!
They also have Beggin Strips on sale 4/$10. This isn't great, my local Target's regular price on these is 2.24. However, if you still have the 3.00 off any Purina snack or the b1/g1 coupon it could work out to be a pretty good price point.
I noticed Kibbles and Bits Wholesome dry food on clearance at my local Publix. They also have Iams Puppy/Kitty food for 6.49 combine this with the 5.00 off coupon from the 3/1 P&G insert and you can get a bag for 1.49. Several blogs are also reporting that Walmart has the Iams food for 5.99 making it only .99 a bag after coupon, if your store carries it in the small bag size(some are reporting not to).
Moneysavingmom has a 5.00 off Purina dog food printable on her site. Check it out here. It appears to only be valid at Pet Supplies Plus. Please correct me if this is not true.
